I live in NY and i want to try party poker for money, but I have heard its illegal. Can it be done, and if so is it safe?

It actually is illegal in some states, though nobody has every been charged for playing online poker. Actually, what the gov't is doing is bogus, so it's your duty to take a stand and play anyway. It's not about poker, it's about the gov't staying out of your life and letting you do whatever you want with your money.
Full Tilt Poker accepts US players. It's the best sit on the net. I've been playing there since they first opened in 2004. Great software, graphics, lots of players, and with all the respected pros associated with the site you know your money is safe.

Not sure about the legality however there are sites that still allow us gamers. Some even give you free money without depositing so there would be zero risk of losing any money.
