Let’s Play Final Fantasy VIII #017 – Card Hacking
In this episode, I show a glimmer of power from the almighty Card mod ability. Recommended Abilities for Diablos: Time Mag-RF, HP-J, Mug, Enc-Half, Enc-None, ST Mag-RF, HP+20%, HP+40%, HP+80%, Mag+20%, Mag +40% Recommended Setup Zell: Ifrit, Siren, ST Def-J Silence, Str-J Curaga, Mag-J Sleep, Str+60% Squall: Shiva, Diablos, Str-J Blizzaga, Mag-J Curaga, Str+60% Selphie: Quezacotl, Draw, Magic, Card, Mag-J Curaga, Str+60% I did not figure out everything about Triple Triad on my own. Here is a link to Sister’s Card Game FAQ where I got most of my information. Although I don’t follow it to the letter, there’s really not much room for deviation, and it was immensely useful in organizing gathering all the rare cards. tinyurl.com I will elaborate more on the Queen of Cards sidequest later. For now, just make sure to lose Minimog to her and that she’s heading for Dollet. If she says she’s heading towards Galbadia, it is critical that you reset and try again. Thanks for watching!

@HCBailly In other words, if you want something rare to happen, you’ve gotta pretend you don’t want it to happen.
hc when i was young i thougt highschool wa like ff8’s school and and my brother was in highschool back when this came out i thought hes was doing stuff like squall and i wanted to be in highschool now i am in highschool and it blows haha
@missingno777 I ADMIT THE system isnt the best in ff8 but i think the storyline make up for that because im replaying it right now and u know the things u need to get stronger is pretty much gay u probably be using your summon beast most of the time
Looking at the system of ff8, I don’t wanna play it but it’s interesting watching HCBailly’s classic commentary as I watch this LP.
Curagas are SSSOOO broken!!!
@maddester Yeah, that’s fine.
HCBailly, is it alright if I lose the MiniMog to the Queen of Cards with the trading rules being One (she is still heading to Dollet)?
That’s bad.. XD Haha
“Quistis learned Bad Breath” LOL
Now students will get away from her because of her breath. LOL
How the F!!! did you get quistis off of that guy i thought you get her off of the girl in the class
@sprmax87 Degenerator does not work on toberries, which sucks when trying for the GF…
Wow, this game has more game-breaking stuff than Final Fantasy 6. I’m impressed.
LOL! One of my favorite Episodes of Simpsons of all times! XD
Genius HC! Genius!
And that’s bad… Really bad!
Ok… Can I go now?
simpsons refrence at the biginging funny
hey HC Bailly can you use degenerator on Tonberries?
Can I go now?
alright, thanks for the info.
@vlad48329reborn For the Queen of Cards, that is definitely so, and part of the point of her sidequest. For others, I think you can win back your rare card from the person you lost it to, but there are a couple rare exceptions.
HCBailly, is it possible to win back rare cards that you lose to the Queen of Cards (or anyone you lost the card to) by simply playing her at any location in the world?
@LibertarianismLives If you play on an emulator, you might want to save at the nearest save point, hard reset, and load the save file. If you just load state, the random number generator might not reset (depending on the emulator I guess), so it will give you the same result over and over again.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!
I never knew how to get those items for upgrading. IM FAIL.
you didn’t say FF8 with as much charisma as usual =P
@HCBailly The only thing I ever really used the system for was to nullify some status ailments that would make some battles impossible… Still, yeah, it is easy, unfortunately. I can’t wait for you to do FF9, since that one was MUCH harder in my opinion!
The Card Games later in a far-far away area are so hard because they play with every Rule active >_> I had to reset 7 times to get these 2 rare Cards there. I like the Card Game, but the better the enemy and the more Rules are active, the harder it gets of course. And they sometimes play with so much skill that it isn’t fun anymore to play with them. Still, I like the Triple Triad. It’s easy to understand and fun to play.
That’s bad / that’s good = epic.
Creeps, bleeps, sweeps… that’s not all he’s lost.
Speaking of losing, you probably wouldn’t think to lose a certain card to gain something later. Silly game logic.
